Natural Cure for Peptic Ulcers

Peptic ulcers are painful sores in the lining of the stomach or in the first part of the small intestine. Most ulcers are caused by an infection with a bacteria called Helicobacter pylori (H-pylori). Peptic ulcer may also be caused by the  use of non- non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as ibuprofen, naproxen and aspirin.  Other causes include smoking tobacco, excessive drinking of alcohol and stress due to serious illness. The symptoms include burning pain in the upper or middle stomach heartburn, acid reflux, bloating and nausea or vomiting. Although most peptic ulcers are small, they cause a lot of pain and discomfort. After treatment of ulcers with orthodox medicines, people are still left with the symptoms of peptic ulcer. This article is going to focus on some natural cures for peptic ulcers.

Fresh CabbageCabbage is a lactic acid food, it produces amino acid which stimulates blood flow to the stomach lining. This helps with strengthening the stomach lining and curing the ulcer. Cabbage also contains vitamin C which is beneficial to people with H-pylori bacteria infections. Cabbage also contains an important ingredient which is called the antiulcer U factor. Its technical name is glutamine which is also available in capsules. Glutamine has been proved to cure ulcer better than antacids. Bunch of ripe bananas

Banana is an effective remedy for peptic ulcer.  This is because they have high magnesium, potassium, manganese, vitamins B6 and C, fiber and folate. Some research suggest that they are high in an enzyme that inhibits the growth of the bacteria that causes peptic ulcer. Banana neutralizes the excess acidity in the gastric juices by forming a layer over the inner walls of the stomach. You can use bananas to treat peptic ulcer by eating three bananas per day until the symptoms subside. You may also peel, dry, crush and drink bananas. Dried bananas contain sitoindosides which increases mucous in the digestive tract which in turn helps to heal ulcers. Dried bananas also contain polysaccharides which is found in anti-ulcer drugs. Bananas are also known to help prevent peptic ulcer in the first place.
